Aims and Objectives
At Seagulls, we aim to offer your child(ren) experiences that enable them to use their innate curiosity and desire to learn.
We can achieve this, by providing a stimulating, safe, loving and welcoming environment. This will give your child(ren) the independence to learn and develop.
We also recognise the importance of working in partnership with you and involving you in your child’s learning, with support being given where needed.
We involve you through family worker meetings, asking for your help, outings and sharing skills and knowledge.
Lastly, we offer opportunities to all children and families, celebrating diversity, individuality and promoting anti-discriminatory behaviour to all those in the setting.

Curriculum Policy
Here at Seagulls, when your child reaches 3 years, they begin their Early Years Curriculum called the Foundation Stage.
Your child will be learning through play experiences. They will gain, develop and maintain their full potential in the six areas of learning.
These areas are physical development, creative development, knowledge and understanding of the world, mathematical development, personal, social, emotional development and communication, language and literacy.
Your family worker will observe and assess your child, while putting together a record of achievement called ‘The Learning Story’. You will be shown this document regularly and have the opportunity to feedback your comments.
Staff members who care for 0-3 year olds produce scrapbooks, containing observations, photos, paintings and drawings. Your child’s scrapbook will be shared with you and you will be invited to make your own contribution to it with photos from home.
Activities are planned daily for all age groups, a copy of which can always be found displayed in each playroom.

Feedback
Here at Seagulls, we strive to create an atmosphere of open communication. This allows views and information to be shared, which concerns the overall running of the nursery.

We invite you to attend informal meetings with your child’s family worker and give you with the opportunity to share your views, concerns and wishes.

On a daily basis, you will have the opportunity to chat with staff. We encourage this, because any gathered information is beneficial to your child’s welfare and the running of the session.

From time to time, Seagulls will be inspected by Ofsted. This is to make sure we provide a high standard of day care.
